The Museum

Since its founding in 1888, the Kölnisches Stadtmuseum has been collecting and conserving objects associated with the history of Cologne from the Middle Ages to the present day, in order to preserve the rich historical heritage of the city and present it to the current and future generations. Although the permanent exhibition is unfortunately closed at this time, visitors are still able to embark on constantly updating, exciting journeys back in time via our diverse special exhibitions!

Special exhibitions 
Admission € 5.00, concessions € 3.00 (students etc.)
School students pay the concessionary price. 

Free admission: children under 6; Cologne children under 18; kindergarten groups; all students in school groups, plus 2 accompanying persons per class); holders of the ‘KölnPass’; Cologne residents on their birthday.

The permanent exhibition is closed until further notice.

Don’t forget: as is the case everywhere else, wearing a medical mask is mandatory. The entrance and exit will be separated from each other and facilities for handwashing and hand disinfection will be made available. Railings and door handles will be disinfected regularly.

U-Bahn (city underground): station Appellhofplatz/Zeughaus 
Deutsche Bahn (main line railway): Köln Hbf./Dom, from there 5 minutes on foot; or Köln-West (change to U-Bahn, 2 stops)

By car
Parking available at: Börsenplatz, DuMont-Carrée



Unfortunately only the ground floor of the special-exhibition area in the Alte Wache is accessible for wheelchair users.
